Known throughout the State of Texas for its lush history and lavish living, the community of River Oaks in Houston is the wealthiest and most expensive community in Texas and among the top ten in the United States.
Established in the 1920s by brothers William and Michael Hogg, the community became a well-publicized national model for community planning. Every detail of the development was planned to establish a well-integrated community, and eventually became a magnet for businesses. The oldest shopping center in Texas and the second oldest in the nation, River Oaks Shopping Center offers patrons access to nationwide retail stores sitting alongside higher-end shops like Sûr la Table, Events, and La Mode Lingerie. In addition to the 38 stores and 15 restaurants, the center is also home to the legendary River Oaks Movie Theatre, which brings a small town feel to the age of the megaplex. The area is close to schools, shopping, dining, entertainment venues and a short Uber ride to Downtown.
